Installation with Seams
With KangaBACK attached cushion carpets that are easy to handle, installation is easy and straightforward for both professional installers and DIY enthusiasts. With careful preparation and the right tools, creating a professional seam can be done with confidence.
Tools Needed for Carpet Seaming:
- Seam cutter or utility knife
- String chalk line
- Straight edge
- Seam sealant/sealer
- Double-faced carpet tape or adhesive
Pro Tips for Seam Success
For seam installation, only use a water-based seam sealer and consider the following:
- Use cuts taken from the same carpet roll and/or dye lot if possible
- Do not use factory edges for seams
- Allow for extra carpet if matching a pattern
- Run seams lengthwise or parallel to traffic patterns
- If possible, plan major seams so that natural sunlight does not shine directly across the seam
- If possible, avoid seams that intersect perpendicular to doorways and entrances
